Highlydriven, intelligent and ambitious designer with strong initiative and ethic, aswell as excellent organisation, leadership and communication skills. A truejack of all trades, firm believer in sustainability, and ‘that form ever followsfunction’, with a keen attention to detail.

My Science based Batchelors Degree in Design Technology means that my background is more technical than most Industrial Designers which shows in my work. My thinking is very thorough and technical, with less emphasis on beautiful sketches and marker renderings, and more emphasis on ideas, communication, and details.
Experience

Company Owner/Freelance Designer
As a fresh graduate in a competitive employment market and industry, I took the initiative to get contracts and become a freelance designer to earn a living and gain experience. Major clients were:

DWG Ltd - Services included design of furniture (see Ditto Tub Char), technical drawing and documentation of patterns and components, organisation of drawing database, liaising with staff at all levels including suppliers, plus supply of drawings in required format to directors, suppliers, and workshop staff.

Lowdham Grange Prison - The Prison were interested in setting up a design studio complete with a photography studio for the prisoners' work. To aid in development and productivity, teaching the inmates about design and design techniques with practical exercises was suggested, and this has proved popular.

Role was as assistant to Design, Development, and manufacturing manager. Experience was also gained in the manufacturing workshop in welding, machining, and assembly.

Second major project was to design a new seal that could withstand use in a nuclear power plant. The existing design could not protect the high speed load bearings from prolonged exposure to strong acid. The research aspect of this involved visiting a centrifuge installation at a sewage works with company maintenance engineers.
